Stone and Sherd Figurines in the Bolaños Culture, Jalisco

Abstract.
The discovery of human figurines made of stone or sherds within the Bolaños culture could represent amulets, talismans or markers of a transcendental event; in the former case, its role would be to protect the individual against evil spirits and, in a secondary capacity, leave testimony of one of the rites of passage.
